Recipes for Detox Diets

There are many recipes for detox diet to choose from whether you want to jump start your diet or cleanse your system. Since there is fasting involved it is not practical for the average person to be on a strict program for long periods at a time. This is because the body grows weak, making it difficult to perform duties at work or at home.

Here are two good recipes for detox diets that can be followed without interrupting your daily routine too much.

The Ten Day Detox Plan

The Ten Day Detox Plan starts with a three day fast. In its original program the first three days were designed to be a fast of purified water only. This can be dangerous if not monitored by a doctor and requires extreme reduction in activity, even bed rest. So it has been modified to include fresh juices. Sip them constantly, along with water, for the first three days.

The following seven days consist of a monotrophic diet, which is the practice of consuming only one type of fruit at each meal. You might have tangerines for breakfast and plums for lunch.

In the late afternoon, a couple of hours before dinner have 12 ounces of fresh carrot juice. For dinner you might have apples. You can eat as much as you need to feel satisfied, but you must not mix the fruits in the same meal.

The Lemonade Diet

A very popular recipe for detox diet is the master cleanse system developed in 1941 which over the years has come to be known more widely as the “lemonade diet”, or the “maple syrup diet”.

Easy enough in instruction, the ten day, three step plan is a test in discipline. Step one involves drinking 100 ounces of the lemonade each day. Step two is a salt water flush to be consumed upon waking each morning, and step three is to drink an herbal laxative tea each night before bed.

The lemonade recipe is simple but can become costly. Simply mix together 2oz. of fresh squeezed lemonade, 2 oz. of grade B organic maple syrup, ¼ t of cayenne pepper, and 2 c. of purified water.

No substitutions are allowed. The lemonade must be fresh squeezed, and the syrup must be grade b organic for this to work. This makes only about twenty ounces of your hundred ounces per day requirement so you can modify it to accommodate what you want to make at a time.

The salt water flush is a simple m ix of 1qt. of water and 2t salt. The trick here is staying near the restroom for about thirty minutes until the flush works its magic. You can buy the herbal laxative tea at the grocery or health food store. Singer/Actress Beyonce Knowles said she shed twenty pounds for her role in the movie “Dream Girls” by following this recipe for detox diet.

Side Effects

Nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, and lack of energy are all potential side effects of any detox or fasting program. Vomiting may even occur from the salt water flush. Seek medical attention if severity increases. It is recommended to consult a physician before starting any diet.
