Molecular Diagnostic Tests

Molecular Diagnostic Tests are special new diagnostic tests which can detect the presence of specific proteins, called antigens, on the surface of tumor cells. These tests are usually highly accurate, and they only require very small amounts of blood or tissue obtained from a biopsy.

Using these tests, doctors may be able to detect cancer at an earlier time, and they may be better able to classify the type of tumor, both of which can lead to providing earlier treatment and also providing the most appropriate treatment.

These tests can find evidence of cancer before the cancer can even be seen by a pathologist’s microscope.
