Mammoplasty Breast Reduction

For those who are looking into cosmetic surgery, they may notice there are several types of available surgeries. Some of these surgeries will focus on changing the shape of your breasts. Cosmetic surgery is used to change the shape of your breasts, giving you a new look and allowing you to feel better about your body.

One of the types of cosmetic surgery for the breasts is known as a mammoplasty. By understanding what this is and what it can do, you can decide if it is right for you. Breast reduction is often considered for women who are experiencing back and neck problems because of large breasts.

Cosmetic Procedure

Mammoplasty is also known as breast reduction. It is considered for changing the look, but is usually a cosmetic surgery procedure that is done to help with health problems that are related to having breasts too large. If there are cystic breast infections, this procedure can help to take out the areas that are bothering you.

If you have pain that is related from larger breasts, such as back pain, neck or shoulder pain, breast pain or headaches then you can also consider a mammoplasty. Often, larger breasts can cause problems with sleeping, posture, or numbness. If you feel your breasts are keeping you from feeling healthy, consider a mammoplasty to help.

Screening

Before you begin a mammoplasty, you will need to be examined by a doctor to make sure that it is the right choice for you. They will go through a routine exam before they begin the procedure to make sure you are healthy and there wont be any complications. On the day of the surgery, you will be put under an anesthesia to remove problems that can be caused by pain.

At this point, the doctors will make incisions around the creases of your breast. They will remove excess tissue that is causing the large breast size. There will be a cut made above your nipple area as well, to move the breast to a higher position. They will then move the tissue that is under the nipple, as well as the nipple area as they would with a breast lift. The last step would be to close the incisions.

After the Procedure

After the surgery, there will be gauze placed around your breasts to help with the healing. Often, surgeons may use a surgical bra to help with the new placement of your breast as well. Usually, a patient will be in pain for one or two days, however, you can take pain medications to relieve the pain of surgery. After two weeks of surgery, the stitches will be removed and you will be nearly healed. It is important to keep in mind that you may need to wear a soft bra for several weeks to keep extra strain off the breasts.

If you are having problems from back, neck or shoulder pain that is related to large breasts, or other difficulties with breasts that are too large, you can solve the problem with mammoplasty.
